Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete

Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete at a tender age has been thrust to the world of theatre and puppetry. She continues to promote the importance of creative expression and learning through theatre and puppetry. Bonifacio-Ramolete was the Chairperson of the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts (2013-2015) and Managing Director of Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (2012-2015). She is also the company manager and senior puppeteer of Teatrong Mulatng Pilipinas, artistic consultant of the Usbong Papet Baclayon in Bohol, and the Philippine representative to Union Internationale de la Marionnette (an international organization for puppet artists).She has been the recipient of prestigious awards namely the UPAA Distinguished Alumna in Culture and the Arts (2014), Natatanging Guro Gawad Chanselor (2014), UP Arts Productivity Award (2013), and The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Award for Theatre Arts (2013). A proud UP Diliman alumna, shehas a degree in Psychology (cum laude, 1989), Master’s degrees in Theatre Arts (1996) and Psychology (2009), and a PhD also in Psychology (2013). She finished grade school and high school at the University of the Philippines Integrated School. She is an Associate Professor who handles undergraduate and graduate communication and theatre classes and is currently the Dean of the College of Arts and Letters.
