Linggo ng Parangal 2016

When

May 16, 2016 - May 20, 2016

The significance of the “woven fabric” runs wide and deep in many ethnolinguistic groups in the Philippine archipelago. Widespread because of the diverse uses of these fabrics in differing passages of time and place: from birth to crossing into the afterlife. Deep because the use of these fabrics is not only limited to protecting oneself from the elements, but can also be repurposed to create newer representations or even just to reflect the environment we are currently at. That year, the concept of the “woven fabric” represented the annual “Linggo ng Parangal” of the University of the Philippines Diliman to symbolize how members of the UP community relentlessly collaborate to develop an unshakable desire to care for the people. The university honored those who’ve succeeded in their fields of expertise through a series of programs that paid tribute to outstanding faculty, students, REPS and staff.
