Let’s talk about the Filipino body.
How do we see it? How do we perform it?
Why should we converse about something so mundane, something so familiar?

The UPD FOCA 2018 is a festivity of poetry, theatre, visual arts, dance, music, installation exhibits, film showings and conferences.

The celebration is made possible by the UPD Office of the Chancellor, Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts, the University of Amsterdam and the International Federation for Theatre Research, in partnership with the Diliman Information Office, University Theater Complex, Asian Center, Asian Institute of Tourism, College of Architecture , College of Arts and Letters, College of Fine Arts, College of Home Economics, College of Human Kinetics, College of Mass Communication, College of Music, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

Documentary on the story of the Philippine National Artist for Sculpture, Napoleon Abueva: Written and directed by Katrina Ventura

A documentary on the story of the Philippine national artist for sculpture, Napoleon Abueva. Known by his loved ones as Billy, Abueva started showing interest in sculpture when he was still a child. After the Japanese occupation in the Philippines, Abueva was given a chance to become an artist in the University of the Philippines. A star student of Guillermo Tolentino, Abueva did not hesitate to veer away from the conventional ways of his mentor. As such, he was given the moniker, the Father of the Modern Sculpture. Written and directed by Katrina Ventura, this documentary explores the different aspects of Abueva’s life – as a sibling, leader, mentor, father, and artist.
