Audience Development Program

This program promotes the cultivation of critical education and appreciation of culture and the arts among members of the public on campus and beyond UPD. It complements the existing curricula of various UPD colleges as well as the cultural programs of government and non-government organizations.

Strategies/Programs:

1. Financial Grants Program

Financial assistance is given to UPD units and organizations for projects and programs relating to the broad field of culture and arts. These include but are not limited to audience development projects like exhibitions, educational workshops/lectures, and art fairs. Grants take the form of partial subsidy and shall not exceed the total project cost.

2. Bisita Kultura

Presentations by established, as well as budding UPD artistic groups from various fields as dance, theater, instrumental and voice music regularly take place amid gatherings of students, faculty, staff, residents and visitors during the Christmas season and twice a year in selected dormitories. Halls of buildings and dormitories on campus serve as venues for groups that regularly grace this event such as: the UP Madrigal Singers, UP Concert Chorus, UP Singing Ambassadors, UP Staff Choral, Entwined Voices, Saxophoro, Symphony Orchestra, Guitar Orchestra, UP Kontra-Gapi, UP Filipiniana Dance Group, UP Streetdance Club, and the UP Teatrong Mulat, among many others. The last Bisita Kultura (sa Pasko) was held in December 2008. (STATUS: CURRENTLY SUSPENDED)

3. Other OICA-initiated productions/activities

Performances, exhibitions, lectures, and other cultural activities produced by OICA are free and open to the public.
