UP Diliman commemorates the 106th U.P. Foundation Day this year. The Office of the Chancellor thru the Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts has prepared a two-part celebration which will set off on Wednesday, 18 June 2014 7:30 am, with a special flag-raising ceremony at the Oblation Plaza, Quezon Hall, and will culminate in an outdoor dance concert at the same venue on Friday, 20 June 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
The special flag-raising ceremony titled “Sayaw-Galaw UP” will feature a parade around the Academic Oval at 7:15 a.m., lively community dancing to be led by the UP Pep Squad, a “ritwal ng pag-aalay” by Dulaang UP, and musical numbers by the UP Singing Ambassadors.
The evening program on Friday, 20 June 2014, “Alay Sayaw” is an outdoor dance concert and is free admission. Here the University’s leading dance groups comprised of: the UP Dance Company, UP Filipiniana Dance Group, UP Pep Squad, and the UP Streetdance Club will perform their award-winning dances in front of the UP Oblation as a symbolic offering. Dulaang UP will feature special performances. This festive sunset ceremony will also launch the Chancellor’s program and vision for his administration themed “Lunsad sa Alon 2014 (Embarking with the Waves 2014)” as it sets on a journey through challenges and countless possibilities, guided by boldness of vision and pride of place.
