One of the much-awaited annual Christmas activities on campus is HANDEL’s MESSIAH. That year, the concert was presented by the UP Diliman Office of the Chancellor through the College of Music, Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA), and the UP Theater.
The Christmas concert was opened to the public, free admission, on December 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the UP Theater. It was offered as a benefit concert for the families affected by typhoon Yolanda. Donations for the victims were raised in partnership with the UP Foundation.
Premiering the same night, the song “Kilos Iskolar” (Words by Reuel Aguila; Music by Verne Dela Pena)- written as the University’s tribute to the victims and survivors of the Yolanda typhoon- was performed by the combined 270 voices of various UP choirs who came together for the benefit concert.
