UP Diliman Month

Let’s celebrate UP Diliman Month this February!  The following is a rundown of the main activities for UP Diliman Month 2014, sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor through the UPD Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA):


A series of concerts is staged on Friday nights of February, 7:00 p.m. at the University Theater beginning with “UPLIFT: Handog Sining sa Bayan” (UP Diliman Performing Groups) on February 7.  The UP Arco and UP Orchestra are featured in “Serenades, Overtures and Lullabies” on February 21, with student guest artists Josher Peralta (trumpet) and Emil Silayan (clarinet).  On February 28,“Hagikhikan 2014: Ang Pagbabalik” – the UP Diliman Faculty Follies – will have two shows, 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  UP CoNeMus will also hold the “Jeepney Orchestra Concert” on February 28, 6:00 pm at the CS Amphitheater.

There are control tickets (first-come, first served basis) for the UPLIFT: Handog Sining sa Bayan” and “Serenades, Overtures and Lullabies”, while tickets for “Hagikhikan” are for sale at P100 each.  All tickets are available at the UPD-OICA office.


On February 1, the College of Music presents “The Legend of M, si Marya Makiling at ang mga Nuno sa Punso” at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, 7:00 pm.  On February 22, the UP Streetdance Club stages its anniversary concert “Street Fuzion 14: Journey” at the UP Theater, 7:00 pm.


A series of Sunday afternoon open-air concerts featuring various performers from UP Diliman.  Watch out for the following features: “Camerata Jazz” (February 2), “UP Tugtugang Musika Asyatika (TUGMA)” (February 9), “Maroon Bench Jam” with UP-FM featured bands (February 16), and “Ka-Fu (Katutubo Fusion) with Kontra-GaPi (February 23).

Himigsikan takes place every Sunday of February at 5:00 p.m. at the Carillon Plaza and is open to the public for free.


A sketching session with invited artists will take place on February 17, 10:00 am at the Bulwagan ng Dangal, Gonzales Hall.  Sketching areas will include Portraiture, Drawing from Life and Still Life.
